![]() If you want a broader range of experience and an easy way to move up in skill quickly (From my experience) find a good MSP and try working for them. Tier 3 Systems Technician sounds better than help desk employee. If you are confident in your current experience with the systems you mentioned using, why not apply for jobs with those? Also, as far as job title goes on your resume, they vary so much in meaning with IT currently that you can put down different wording to say help desk. I would recommend net+ and then CCNA for studying but, only get the CCNA cert. If you would prefer to switch to networking, the certification material is definitely worth knowing. I'm just sick of where I work and don't want to do a lateral move.Īs others have asked, why the networking certs if you have been doing system administration work? What certs should I be looking into? Network+ what else? Maybe some Cisco certs? Maybe I'm not 100% experienced, but how can I become experienced enough to manage to get some offers from other companies? Mostly just server migrations and data migrations, all supervised by my boss. I have been working in eSXi, VMWare and vSphere a decent amount over the last two years at my current employer. ![]() I have an associates degree currently employed as a tier 3 helpdesk analyst with about eight years of experience in private consulting(being an onsite technician and doing remote work for my own clients.) I currently have a decent amount of system administration experience. ![]()
